New Sea Treasures for Goldsmiths' Fair 2024
The magnificent Goldsmiths' Fair always inspires a new wave of creative development in the studio. This year I've been delving deeply into new imaginings to bring you a trove of sea treasures - all adorned with gorgeous granulation.
MAREEL:
Seascapes and sea-life never cease to amaze me. When I first saw 'Mareel', bioluminescence produced by marine plankton, I immediately wanted to capture the magic of that ethereal light in my work.
This year my creative process has been further enriched by the use of new equipment and technical explorations funded by The Goldsmiths' Centre’s Business Catalyst Grant. New complex setting structures enabled me to embed lavish clusters of sapphires and diamonds seamlessly within flowing granulation - creating a greater depth of phosphorescent sea glimmer.
I'm showcasing bold showstopper rings, earrings and necklaces which feature alongside very delicate Mareel Cluster variations - suspended on dainty bracelets or as pendants and stud earrings.
REEF URCHIN:
During this period of design development I also wanted to explore a new creative pathway for my Sea Urchin series. I've always marvelled at these creatures and their varying linear, sculptural forms. I first started experimenting with simple sculptural sea urchin formations for Goldsmiths' Fair in 2018 and later introduced more complex jewelled designs.
The myriad of Sea Urchin species span a spectrum of colours - both open water sea urchins and reef dwellers. In my new Reef Urchin works, I wanted to embrace this dynamic colourful energy. More elongated spinal formations are embedded with different jewel cuts in otherworldly tones and clustered with mixed-metal granulation. Statement brooches, cocktail rings and earrings all feature. Intricate little Sea Urchin variations are also part of the collection - shimmering with Champagne diamonds and multiple hues of blue topaz.
OCEAN REFRESH:
My signature collections have also been refreshed this Autumn with a surge of new sea toned variations and I'm excited to introduce delicate 'pendant' bracelets into my range.
Shoreline Hoops and Cluster Rings are adorned with teal sapphires amidst granulation. Sparkling diamond dew drops feature in dazzling new earrings. Whorl Rings are set with solitaire jewels and oxidised sliver Spindrift Rings are adorned with gold granulation and scattered with mesmerising Teal Tourmaline. Sourcing materials responsibly remains a high priority. The jewels are all ethically sourced from Brazil and the precious metals are all 100% recycled.
I'm presenting a select preview online with many more designs to see at Goldsmiths' Fair. Event details below.
