We're Hiring a Studio Jeweller
I'm looking for a skilled and experienced part-time Studio Jeweller, with great organisation and admin skills, to join my busy workshop at Cockpit Studios in Deptford. This is a desirable opportunity to work for an established contemporary jewellery brand, as part of a small team. Primarily working at the bench, the successful candidate will support me in creating production pieces, fine jewellery and bespoke projects. They will also play a part in ensuring the smooth running of the workshop and occasionally provide support for selling events.

Reports to: Director / Owner
Salary: Competitive but dependant on experience
Contract: 1 day per week, 3 month renewable freelance contract, to start June 2024
Jewellery / Benchwork
Working on production pieces, bespoke projects and fine jewellery
Finishing fine jewellery to a high standard and to the designers’ requirements - including cleaning up castings, soldering, assembling pieces and finishing work
Workshop / Sales
Organising production and highlighting issues. Keeping communication open in the order and production process
Maintaining workshop materials - such as bullion, castings and studio sundries
Occasional support in preparing and setting up for events such as Open Studios and Goldsmiths’ Fair
Support the team through assisting with general workshop tasks

Essential
Demonstrate excellence in fine jewellery making skills
Experienced at working in a jewellery workshop / minimum 3 years bench experience
Personable with a positive / enthusiastic attitude and hands-on approach
Excellent attention to detail / demonstrate a high level of quality control
Excellent organisation skills: Methodical and thorough with good time management / prioritisation abilities
Able to work independently with strong problem solving skills
Computer literate and able to work on a Mac. Conversant with Google Sheets / Docs, Microsoft Office and Mail
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Adaptable and flexible in a busy working environment
A passion for jewellery and design excellence
Desirable
The following attributes will afford the candidate a strong advantage:
Mount making and setting skills
Experience working with a Little Smith Oxygen Torch
Experience using a laser welder
Gemmology knowledge
