Inspired by the ebb and flow of the sea - the crests of waves are coiled in precious metals and encrusted with droplets of granulation in my new Tide Collection. The creative process began with a technical exploration into linking and interconnecting forms using granulation to create pieces with greater height and depth.
Drawn to the undulating movement of wave formations andthe elegant curved lines in nature, such as those hidden on the underside of fungi, I began to sketch ideas and play with the concept of using multiple strands of varying lengths. These defined lines could then be soldered and curled together into swooping sculptural shapes - tipped, connected and encrusted with granulation in different ways. I also experimented with contrasting precious metals to heighten the definition and movement of the pieces.
Earrings, rings and statement necklaces are among the new Tide pieces which will be previewed at my Secret Studio Event and exhibited at select shows and galleries this Autumn / Winter. I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
