Creating a new website fills me with an equal measure of excitement and nerves. The process is so unlike being at the bench, where I can hold a design in my hands, feel how the form evolves and fine tune every element myself. A creative project like this takes many hands and minds working together to a vision. Sometimes it can feel very intangible, often frustrating and on occasion, when things start to come together, like a little bit of magic unfolding before my eyes.
I really liked my previous website, it was a lovely clean white box gallery, however it felt very removed from me and my work. I wanted to build more of a relationship between what happens in my little London studio and what you see in my online shop. I wanted to add warmth and tone - richer photography and snippets of film. To add that sense of texture, movement, craftsmanship and process - and more than anything to invite more of a personal connection between me and you.
Now we are at the stage where this creation, so long in the making, is ready to take a tentative step onto your screen. On a practical level - I hope you find the new design intuitive and easy to use - and that you can find everything you need. We are still in the test launch phase - so if you spot any issues please drop me an email and we’ll get onto it. On a personal note - I hope you feel the natural warmth come through and enjoy the new visual experience.
My thanks to everyone involved - from concept, design, build, photography, film, copy and tea making.
